The Prosthodontics and Aesthetic Dentistry Residency Program at Ajman University is a rigorous, full-time, three-year postgraduate training program designed to cultivate dental professionals into highly competent specialists in prosthodontics. The curriculum encompasses advanced clinical and didactic instruction in fixed and removable prosthodontics, implant dentistry, aesthetic dentistry, digital dentistry and maxillofacial prosthetics.
Throughout the program, residents engage in the comprehensive management of complex clinical cases under expert supervision, gaining extensive hands-on experience and participating in interdisciplinary patient care. The training emphasizes the integration of clinical excellence, precision in laboratory techniques, academic scholarship, and a strong foundation in ethical and professional responsibility.

Intended Learning Outcomes
By the end of the training program, the resident must be able to:
- Exhibit an advanced and comprehensive understanding of dental materials science, with particular emphasis on its application to the treatment of patients requiring prosthodontic and aesthetic dental interventions.
- Demonstrate clinical competence in the effective utilization of imaging modalities—such as radiography and intraoral photography—for the assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients undergoing fixed or removable prosthodontic treatment, conservative restorative procedures, aesthetic rehabilitation, or implant therapy, both independently and in interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Exemplify the ability to independently conduct, document, and critically interpret a detailed medical and dental history, as well as a comprehensive clinical examination, in patients presenting with both straightforward and complex prosthodontic needs.
- Demonstrate proficiency in formulating accurate, comprehensive diagnoses encompassing dental and prosthodontic conditions.
- Display clinical excellence and sound judgment in designing and implementing individualized treatment plans for patients requiring simple, complex, or comprehensive prosthodontic rehabilitation—including fixed, removable, and implant-supported prostheses, and management of temporomandibular disorders—independently or in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrate advanced competence in addressing the aesthetic dimensions of dental care in patients undergoing prosthodontic, restorative, implant, or cosmetic treatment, ensuring a patient-centered, interdisciplinary, and evidence-informed approach.
- Exhibit proficiency in the integration and clinical application of digital technologies to enhance diagnostic precision, treatment planning, and the execution of prosthodontic, aesthetic, and implant therapies.
- Incorporate preventive and health-promoting strategies aimed at maintaining the integrity of both hard and soft oral tissues, contributing to the long-term oral health of prosthodontic patients.
- Apply principles of evidence-based dentistry and demonstrate critical thinking and analytical skills in appraising scientific literature to guide clinical decisions in fixed and removable prosthodontics, conservative dentistry, aesthetic and implant-related procedures.

Admission Requirements
General Admission Criteria
- Bachelor’s degree in Dentistry from a university accredited by the UAE Ministry of Education.
- Minimum GPA of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent.
- Successful interview with the program director.
- One academic recommendation letter (Optional).
- (If the DDS Degree was earned from a non-English University) English proficiency: TOEFL 550 (PBT), 213 (CBT), or 79 (iBT); or IELTS 6.0.
Conditional Admission
- GPA between 2.0 and 2.7: May be considered under the condition of achieving a minimum average of 70/100 in Year 1.
- English deficiency: Candidates may be conditionally admitted and required to meet language standards within the first year.
Graduation requirements
The residents will be awarded the certificate of completion of three years’ residency training in Prosthodontics & Aesthetic Dentistry after fulfilling the following requirements:
- Demonstrate eligibility to sit the end-semester exam through Supervised Learning Events and passing the exams at the end of each semester, which requires achieving a minimum passing grade of 60%.
- Fulfill the clinical requirements as outlined in the "Clinical and Laboratory Experiences for Prosthodontic Residents" logbook, and per the program guidelines and regulations.
- Support or participate in the publication of at least one scientific paper,
or present scientific work at a conference,
or at a meeting approved by the Continuing Education Office at Ajman University College of Dentistry.
- Complete the three years of clinical training.
Professional Expectations
- Full-Time Attendance
Attendance on Saturdays and Sundays is mandatory throughout the 3-year residency.
- Professional Conduct
Residents must uphold the reputation of Ajman University through professional behavior on and off campus. Disciplinary actions may be taken for any serious misconduct.
- Respect for UAE Laws & Culture
Students must adhere to all cultural, ethical, and legal expectations in the United Arab Emirates.
- Responsibility for Licensure
Residents are solely responsible for applying for licensure in the UAE. Regulations may change over time and must be monitored by the applicant.
- Patient Acquisition & Costs
While Ajman University will assist with providing patients, students are expected to take initiative in securing their own clinical cases.
Fees & Financial Policy
- Annual Tuition: AED 115,500 AED (inclusive of VAT)
- Payment Schedule:
- 50% of the annual tuition fees are due before the start of the first semester.
- 50% of the annual tuition fees are due before the second semester.
